The Dallas Cowboys have not had a very good offseason, and things just got worse with the most recent update concerning edge rusher Micah Parsons.
The Cowboys opened organized team activities on Tuesday, but Parsons is not in attendance.
Micah Parsons is not at Cowboys OTA practice today. CeeDee Lamb was never expected to show up until at least minicamp.

But there was hope that Parsons would attend OTAs after skipping the offseason program as he did last year
Parsons is angling for a new contract after becoming eligible for an extension this offseason, but Dallas has apparently not made any progress in talks with him.
That makes for the second Cowboys star not present at OTAs, as wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is also absent, as the above tweet states.
Is it a surprise that Parsons has opted not to attend OTAs? No. After all, he wasn’t involved last year, and that had nothing to do with his contract.
It should be noted that there is no proof that Parsons is missing organized team activities because of his lack of a new deal. As a matter of fact, his agent said last month that Parsons’ reasoning for missing any voluntary offseason work would not be contract-related.
But it seems hard to imagine that Parsons’ absence from OTAs has absolutely nothing to do with his contract.
You mean to tell me that if the Cowboys would have given Parsons a massive extension earlier this offseason that he still would not have been present?
Seems hard to believe.
Dallas entered the offseason with severe financial constraints and was essentially silent in free agency as a result. The Cowboys’ lack of activity has drawn immense criticism from fans and media pundits alike, but owner Jerry Jones has maintained that the team is “all in” heading into 2024.
It’s understandable that Dallas wants to save money to retain its own guys long term, but it seems to have made very little—if any—headway on that front, either.
The Cowboys seem willing to allow quarterback Dak Prescott to play out the final year of his deal. Lamb is without a contract in spite of being slated to hit free agency next March. Parsons still has two years of club control remaining, so he probably isn’t one of the team’s top priorities at the moment, but the fact that Dallas seems to be dragging its feet in general is concerning.
Before you know it, training camp will be here. Heck, mandatory minicamp begins in a couple of weeks.
At some point, the Cowboys are going to need to start making some moves. Not only does their future depend on it, but so does their success next season.
