Ravens potentially looking to bolster secondary with former No. 6 overall pick

The Ravens already have one of the better safety tandems in the league in Marcus Williams and Kyle Hamilton, but they must still find a replacement for third safety Geno Stone, who joined the Bengals in free agency.

It seems Baltimore has its eyes on who that could be. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, former Jets and Seahawks safety Jamal Adams is visiting with the Ravens on Tuesday.

The former No. 6 overall pick in 2017 was named to three Pro Bowls in his first four seasons but has struggled to stay healthy as of late, appearing in just 10 games the past two years.

Adams was a salary cap casualty by Seattle earlier this offseason following yet another underwhelming year in which he registered just 48 tackles and two passes defensed.

Still, Baltimore could be the perfect spot for Adams, as it would allow him the chance to get fully healthy without the need of him being an immediate starter.

Once Adams gets to that point, he can then help fill the void left by Stone, who finished the 2023 season with the second-most interceptions (seven) in the NFL.

The Ravens may still opt to turn to the lesser-experienced Ar'Darius Washington (2021 undrafted free agent) or Sanoussi Kane (2024 seventh-round pick), but Adams does provide an intriguing option at a likely cheap price.

Baltimore not only lost defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, who became the Seahawks' new head coach, this offseason, but also several key defenders, such as Stone and linebacker Patrick Queen, who joined the Steelers.

The 28-year-old Adams may not be the same player he used to be, but he could help fill some of the production left by those players with positional flexibility while also helping new defensive coordinator Zach Orr set the tone for his defense.

Orr has big shoes to fill after the Ravens defense allowed the fewest points per game (16.5) in the league last season.
