Tampa Bay Lightning acquire Ryan McDonagh from Nashville

McDonagh notched three goals and 29 assists for 32 points in 74 games during the 2023-24 regular season with the Predators. He added one assist in six Stanley Cup playoff contests as the Predators were eliminated in the first round by the Vancouver Canucks.

McDonagh is returning to Tampa after being dealt there following the 2022 season. The 34-year-old was deal to Nashville for Philippe Myers and forward Grant Mismash. McDonagh is currently heading into year six, of a seven-year, $47,250,000 extension he signed with the Bolts in 2018. The contract has an average annual value of $6.75 million.

The Lightning originally acquired McDonagh from the New York Rangers at the 2018 trade deadline. He scored four goals and 26 points in 71 games with the Lightning during the 2021–22 regular season, adding one goal and five points in 23 playoff games as the Bolts fell to the Colorado Avalanche in the 2022 Stanley Cup Final.
