Erling Haaland ‘s importance to Manchester City was only exemplified through his goals this season. The Norwegian striker bagged an impressive 33 goals in all competitions, with 27 coming in the Premier League. While the forward bagged seven goals in his last 5 League games for City, many are still of the opinion that he had a ‘bad’ season.
It isn’t difficult to understand why a few think Haaland may have fallen short of his own unreal standards. However, to call out a Premier League Golden Boot winner with at least 5 goals more than anyone else in the League seems ‘unfair’.
Haaland himself replied to the same, paying no heed to his critics and haters. Fans quickly remembered how it ended for Roy Keane who labelled Haaland as a League Two player.
The more critics and haters you have, the better you are. If this is a bad season, then I'm in it and it can only go up. Erling Haaland said in an interview
Do you have a message for those who say you had a bad season?

Despite Cole Palmer pulling level with Haaland in terms of goals a month ago, the Norwegian’s four-goal haul against Wolves helped him pull away from his competition. As Haaland completes just his second season with City, he is already a two-time Premier League champion!
If there is anyone who can win back-to-back Premier League golden boots in their first two seasons, it’s Erling Haaland. Brought in by Pep Guardiola to score goals, the No.9 has done just that and more in his second season at the club. A whopping 27 goals from 31 games gave City the edge over their opponents on several occasions.
His most crucial goals came against Tottenham Hotspur last week and in their 1-1 draw to Liverpool back in March. His back-to-back finishes at the top of the goal scoring charts makes him the first player to do so since Harry Kane himself between 2015 to 2017. Ever since he made the move from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, Haaland has been responsible for more than one-third of his side’s Premier League goals.

At just 23 years old, Haaland has 63 League goals to his name from 66 outings. Despite suffering injuries and enduring a rough patch, he showed his class by still finishing with the highest number of goals in England’s premier competition. With Haaland’s contract with City running until 2027, fans can only expect more of the same.
